Redesigning existing educational resources and materials which support the Youth Education programs. The finished project recommended a new path for UMS to expand the reach and usability of the resources to a wider audience. A conference poster illustrating the recommendations can be found here.

SCVNGR for Information Literacy
October-December 2011
Created an online learning module on the mobile application SCVNGR for use in information literacy instruction. The game includes use of library resources while addressing underlying information literacy concepts such as evaluation of information. PowerPoint slides that contain screenshots of the game interface can be downloaded here, and a conference poster on this project can be seen here.

Created an exhibit in support of the conservatory’s performance of Rent to highlight library resources and to increase interest in the issues surrounding the themes and performance practice of the rock opera. The exhibit included scores, books, CDS, and DVDs. Materials related to Rent that were highlighted and briefly discussed included La Boheme by Puccini, Stagestruck by Sarah Schulman, Symphony no. 1 by John Corigliano, and The AIDS Quilt Songbook.

Created research guides on the LibGuides platform to support upper level students. The guide for Schenkerian Analysis was created specifically to support an existing class while the Music Education guide was created as a more general resource for students graduating, finding jobs, and surviving the first year of teaching.

Conducted research and generating a collection development policy and recommendations for the Donald Hall Collection, a collection utilized by the Department of Screen Arts and Cultures.

Generated recommendations for acquisition in the area of bassoon concertos based on research which compared RU’s holdings against holdings by the Library of Congress, Northwestern, University of Michigan, and Michigan State. The full report can be downloaded here.

Created and maintained webpages on Sharepoint software for the Law Library Publications of the Law Faculty webpages. Maintained the Reference Manager database that underlies the webpages.

Created with Jing for a class project, this 5-mintue screencast shows how to use Audacity and iTunes to record and create CDs.

Consulting

Conducted website usability studies for the interactive UMSLobby website as a member of a 4-person team that generated recommendations to improve usability and user experience. The project focused on heuristic evaluation to provide recommendations in advance of a planned website redesign that is currently underway as of winter 2012.

Dragonfly Depot, Ann Arbor, MI
September 2010-December 2010
Examined the workflows and communication flows related to warehouse procedures at Dragonfly Depot through the process of contextual inquiry as a member of a 5-person team. The project suggested recommendations to improve information flows in warehouse procedures.
